ECE – Hastings Park Childcare Centre
Kiwassa Neighbourhood House is a multi-service community agency that provides social services and programs to residents in Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Kiwassa has 150 licenced child care spaces in four locations, offering quality childcare to infants, toddlers, and school-aged children. We are seeking an experienced and ECE licensed Educator for Hastings Park Childcare Centre. The successful applicant will offer innovative ideas and enthusiasm to our dynamic, inclusive, and multicultural program. This position reports to the Program Coordinator.
NOTE: This is a temporary full-time, term position (with possibility of extension) from January through March 2020.
Responsibilities: Provide a developmentally appropriate, play centered, and inclusive program for children in the program. Develop individualized/group curriculum based on children’s needs, interests, age, and abilities. Attend to children’s physical needs that include diapering, eating, and sleeping. Establish and maintain positive daily communication with families. Provide caregivers/families with information and referrals to social agencies when appropriate. Ensure children’s safety and supervision standards. Work collaboratively with childcare team, other Kiwassa programs, and community partners.
Qualifications: Early Childhood Educator Certificate required Minimum one year recent related experience ECE post-basic Infant/Toddler an asset ECE post-basic Special Needs an asset Valid First Aid Certification Experience with and passion for creating innovative, play-centered programs for young children; experience working with children in a multicultural setting Experience working with families with diverse needs and abilities Excellent communication skills Excellent English language ability
Salary: $21.22/hour (ECE Qualified) + wage enhancement + 4% in lieu of vacation
Hours of work: Mon-Fri, 35 hours a week
Start date: January 2nd - March 31st, 2020
