Westcoast workshops and courses support the implementation of the BC Early Learning Framework, Schedule G of the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation and the Early Childhood Educators of BC Code of Ethics.

Westcoast is a member of the BC Early Years Professional Development Hub.

Professionalism and Partnering with Parents

Responsible Adult In Child Care Settings Course

Online from Friday September 16 to Oct 29, 2022 Friday, September 16, 2022 (tech session) from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Every Saturday - September 17, 24 and October 15, 22 & 29 from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm (including a 30 min break) * No class October 1 and 8, 2022 5 Saturdays, 3 hour sessions each, plus 60 minutes self-study per session.
Location: Online

This course was developed by Westcoast to meet the requirements for 20 hours Responsible Adult training as stipulated by the Child Care Regulation. Through online sessions, it covers concepts about child development from birth to 12 years of age, child guidance, health, safety and nutrition and programming. This is a basic course meant for people starting their career in child care. It is not suitable for those requiring professional development to renew their ECE certificate.

Supporting Resources for Families with Diverse Abilities

This workshop will introduce participants to the Family Support Institute, a non-profit organisation serving families living with diverse abilities, and explore how to embrace person-centred thinking, as each person with diverse abilities is unique and has their own strengths, hopes and dreams.

Administration & Management for Child Care

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Administration & Management for Child Care course - a comprehensive online training program that explores all aspects of leadership development.

Our online course is delivered and guided by expert instructors with years of experience in child care and has been especially designed to support and strengthen innovative practices in leadership. Each e-learning module features fully interactive content including training videos, reflection opportunities, quizzes, live Zoom sessions, group work and a whole Knowledge Base of resources including templates and sample forms.

To support the Administration & Management for Child Care course, we have also created the Administration & Management for Child Care Knowledge Base - a comprehensive online information database for ECE leaders, with detailed guidance on all areas of child care leadership.
