Senior Early Childhood Educator

Our very special, well-established program (first opened in 1967) for children aged 30 months to 5 years of age is currently seeking an exceptional Early Childhood Educator to join our team. We are located near the UBC Endowment Lands, easily accessible via transit (99B Line) Successful candidates will bring innovative ideas to enhance our curriculum, strong group management skills, be able to take initiative, demonstrated ability to multi-task, an excellent command of spoken and written English, the ability to form respectful relationships with families and most importantly, a passion for educating young children.

Our program is unique in that we offer a smaller than usual class size. We enroll a maximum of 20-22 children although we are licensed for 25. Additionally, we offer extra-curricular activities (soccer, musical theatre, karate, yoga, and outdoor education 5 mornings a week. such as soccer, musical theatre, and outdoor education giving our teaching team the opportunity to learn from instructors who are the best of the best in their fields!

Required Experience:

Succesful applicants will have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience within a daycare (full day) program, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory capacity. 

Key Responsibilities:

All employees are responsible for delivering a high-quality early year’s program that corresponds with ABC University Daycare's existing philosophy and mandate. Our program prides itself on thinking "outside of the box" and offers an innovative program that is fresh, fun, educational and exemplifies reflective practice. The senior educator will oversee all facets of program management when the management team is off program premises, or off the floor. This includes ensuring that the facility is maintained at a high standard of cleanliness and organization, acting as a mentor to junior educators, maintaining mutually supportive relationships with ECE teaching programs (currently VCC and Langara) as a practicum sponsor teacher, taking the lead in program planning, maintaining positive, respectful relationships with fellow team members and families, supervision of children during indoor and outdoor playtime, and leading group times. Light housekeeping duties including gardening are shared amongst staff members.

Salary & Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $24.00 plus the Wage Enhancement and is commensurate with experience.

The remuneration for this position includes an excellent benefit package which includes dental, vision, paramedical (massage therapy, chiropractic etc) prescription drugs, critical illness and disability insurance, sick time, paid professional development, reimburseement for first aid & criminal record check and 4 weeks holiday (2 weeks in December 2 weeks in the summer)
