WFC is looking for a part-time permanent Child Care Trainer to work 28 Hrs/ week. The WCCRC Child Care Trainer reports to the Manager, Programs & Services and is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the day-to-day activities and operations for Westcoast Professional Development and Training. The Childcare Trainer requires a flexible schedule, to include evening and weekend hours.

Skills You Bring: 

  • Current knowledge of child care, child development, and family support issues, trends, and practice.
  • Proven effectiveness and successful experience in organizational, communication, supervisory, and leadership roles with a staff team.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in working in a leadership capacity in services related to Westcoast Training content and activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and maintain positive community relations.
  • Effective English written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness required as part of a staff team.
  • Competency in languages in addition to English is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with productivity software such as Gsuite or Microsoft including word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet search, and other related applications.

 

Requirements: 

  • Diploma in a related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent program coordination or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:    

  • In collaboration with Training team, plans and oversees delivery key professional development opportunities for Early Care and Learning Professionals:
  • Planning, and coordinating workshops in consultation with Program Manager, Training and Library that are aligned with Westcoast’s  core values and the BC Early Learning Framework.
  • Hosting and facilitating professional development events.
  • Developing and coordinating the training calendar in collaboration with the Training Team; including scheduling locations, facilitators, and dates/times.
  • Identifying and developing relationships with facilitators to provide relevant and diverse professional development opportunities.
  • Responding to professional development requests and requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate communication with clients, community partners, and funders regarding training policies and procedures, annual work plan, budget, and Training effectiveness.
  • Keeps the Program Manager, Training and Library informed of progress towards completion of the annual work plan, compliance with program budget, and feedback regarding training effectiveness on a quarterly basis or as the need arises.
  • Ensures professional development workshops, courses and presentations, and relevant accompanying resources on topics related to child care programming and administration are developed and delivered.
  • Responds to requests for training on related topics for the full spectrum of child care providers and organizations.
  • Ensures integration of Training annual planning with the agency’s overall strategic plan.
  • Meets regularly with the Program Manager, Training and Library to discuss the direction of the program as well as staffing and resource needs for service delivery.
  • Provides contracts, training agreements and other documentation for external facilitators.
  • Builds effective links with relevant organizations in the child care, child development, family support, and broader social service sector.
  • Represents the program and Westcoast in the child care and broader communities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
