Child Care Resource & Referral, Program Consultant
NSCR seeks a 0.8 FTE (28 hours/week) Program Consultant for the Child Care Resource and Referral Program. The CCRR Consultant is responsible for the overall delivery of services at the West Vancouver satellite location. In-office role includes supporting families with ACCB, child care referrals, lending library, and providing community information. This role also includes outreach throughout West Vancouver, including Bowen Island and Lions Bay, regularly working at various sites in the community. Through outreach in the community, the Consultant will support current and prospective child care providers and parents on an ongoing basis. The Consultant is responsible for working collaboratively with NSCR staff, community partners and clients to achieve the mandate and quality service for the Child Care Resource and Referral Program.
Additional Qualifications:
- Valid BC Early Childhood Education certificate, degree or related university degree
- Experience working directly with children, families, and community partners.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), reporting, record keeping and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as seek assistance/advice/direction as appropriate
- Understanding of and experience with client relationships and professional ethics (Code of Ethics ECEBC)
- Knowledge of community resources
- Appropriate computer and other technological literacy
- A valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license and vehicle
- Appropriate Criminal Records & Vulnerable Sector Check
- One or more additional languages will be an asset
Key Responsibilities:
The CCRR Program Consultant will:
- Support parents and child care providers in the community by providing consultation and assistance with the Affordable Child Care program application and other CCRR services as required
- Complete child care referral forms for families using our iCarol system
- Check items in and out of our lending library
- Mobile delivery of lending library materials during outreach
- Opening and/or closing of the West Vancouver office
- Facilitating drop-in programming for families and child care providers, including Mother Goose
- Developing relationships with community partners through consistent outreach throughout West Vancouver (including Bowen Island and Lions Bay). Including attending programs such as Strong Start, Thrive, libraries, Bowen Island Family Place, Bowen Island Children’s Center, and licensed child care centers
- Maintain a working knowledge of community services and resources, and provide this information to child care providers, parents, and the community
- Support child care providers and parents to access NSCR and CCRR programs and services
- Represents the CCRR program and NSCR at West Vancouver community events, such as Early Years Fair
- Organize attending community events in West Vancouver
- Creating social media content (e.g.; reels and photos)
- Promotion of West Vancouver and North Vancouver CCRR services
- Develops and maintains files and statistics as required (e.g. Ministry and agency statistics, documentation required by funding bodies, etc.)
- Assist at North Vancouver office Saturdays 9am-1pm, including hosting workshop facilitators, community events and basic CCRR duties.
- Other duties and tasks as contracts, funding or management requires
Salary & Benefits:
Hourly Wage: $26.50-$28.18
Benefits: extended health, dental, vision care, etc. after 3 months;
3% RRSP contribution; paid closure between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (all benefits pending completion of probationary period)
