Early Childhood Educator

Our exceptional and well-established program, founded in 1967, for children aged 30 months to 5 years, is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to join our team. We are located near the UBC Endowment Lands, easily accessible via transit (99B Line). Successful candidates will be hardworking, take initiative, possess an excellent command of both spoken and written English, demonstrate strong group management skills, and have a passion for educating young children.

Our program stands out due to its unique features. We offer a smaller-than-usual class size, allowing educators to interact more closely with the children. Additionally, we provide a variety of extracurricular activities, such as soccer, yoga, outdoor education, zumba, and musical theatre, giving educators and children an excellent opportunity to learn from the best instructors!

Required Experience:

Candidates must have full provincial certification as an Early Childhood Educator. Special Needs and IT are considered assets but are not required. This position is ideally suited to an experienced educator. However, we will consider recent graduates with complete certification and strong group management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

 Duties include assisting the Management Team and Senior Educators to deliver an exceptional early education program, program planning, supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities, and managing group times. We also share light housekeeping responsibilities among staff members. We encourage our educators to bring their passions to the program. We will incorporate those interests into the curriculum if you love cooking, baking, or gardening. Our centre is pet-friendly. If you have a well-behaved pet that is good with children, this is also an option. Candidates will receive a comprehensive job description before interviewing.

Salary & Benefits:

The starting salary range is $22-24 per hour plus WE, commensurate with certification level and experience. We are open to negotiation!  

As part of our commitment to your growth as an Educator, you will have two Professional Development Days per year, one in the autumn and one in the spring. We bring in instructors to ensure you can complete the mandatory hours without encroaching on your time. First Aid and Criminal Record checks are reimbursed. Please let us know if you see additional Pro D courses that will add to your practice! 

Medical benefits through Manulife, which include prescription drug coverage, vision care, health (chiropractic, massage therapy, etc.), dental, life, disability, and critical illness insurance, are paid 100% after completing the three-month probationary period: four weeks of paid vacation, two at the end of December and two weeks in July, and reimbursement for first aid are part of the remuneration package. We also have a coffee/tea bar on site, and regular teacher appreciation treats such as dinner during staff meetings and cheesecake or Starbucks delivered on the days when a little pick-me-up is needed!
