Early Childhood Educator
Additional Qualifications:

Required Experience:
- Strong preference will be given to candidates who have Infant Toddler Educator certification, Special Needs certificate will be an asset.
- Experiences working with vulnerable families in the DTES community will be an asset.
- Indigenous applicants and/or applicants with lived experiences in the communities that we serve are encouraged to apply and preference will be given to applicants who have an Indigenous heritage, with the required combinations of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Knowledge of traditional healing practices
- Knowledge of the principles of harm reduction.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
- Knowledge and experience with current practices and theory including co-constructed curriculum and documentation is preferable.
- The successful applicant will be a team player, interested in maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as required by the centres would be an asset. A criminal records check will be required and references will be contacted.
- A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Child-centered care, including nurturing, responsive, and culturally sensitive care;
- Maintain a clean and safe environment: launder bibs and cloths, sanitize toys and equipment, and set up the physical space for daily activities;
- Program planning, implementation, and evaluation;
- Follow each child’s individual daily schedule with consistency and care;
- Track, monitor and document each child’s day, including:
- Daily routines, locations, and needs
- Food and liquid intake
- Health, emotional well-being, and developmental progress
- Writing daily updates, developmental observations, and progress notes for team members and families
- Greet all parent/guardians and children during drop-off and pick-up
- Communicate daily updates and observations with team members and families
- Other duties as required

Pay Rate: Starting at $24.24 per hour plus $6 wage enhancement for qualified ECEs
