Required Experience:
At least 1 year required, 2-4 year of experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Caregiving & Routine Support
-
Provide nurturing, respectful, and responsive care for children aged 3–5 years old.
-
Support daily routines including meals, toileting, rest, and transitions.
-
Assist children through potty-training and self-help skills, collaborating with families for consistency.
-
Encourage independence, resilience, and self-regulation through predictable routines.
2. Early Learning & Development
-
Design and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports:
-
Cognitive Development: problem-solving, early numeracy, inquiry and exploration.
-
Language & Literacy Development: storytelling, songs, vocabulary building, phonemic awareness.
-
Social-Emotional Growth: sharing, cooperation, conflict resolution, empathy.
-
Physical & Motor Skills: fine-motor (art, manipulative play) and gross-motor (outdoor play, movement games).
-

Integrate creative arts, music, science, nature exploration, and cultural diversity into programming.
-
Foster a love for learning by following children’s interests and curiosity.
3. Observation & Documentation
-
Observe children’s play, interactions, and developmental progress daily.
-
Document observations to track learning, growth, and individual needs.
-
Maintain up-to-date portfolios and developmental records in compliance with centre policies.
-
Share progress with families during regular updates and parent conferences.
-
Identify potential developmental concerns and communicate with families and supervisors, supporting referrals when necessary.
4. Health & Safety
-
Ensure all activities and environments comply with BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
-
Conduct daily checks of toys, materials, and equipment for hazards or wear.
-
Follow centre policies for illness management, medication administration, and incident reporting.
-
Participate in emergency preparedness drills and follow established safety protocols.
5. Family Communication
-
Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents/guardians.
-
Communicate daily updates about children’s routines, behaviours, and learning experiences.
-
Provide support and resources to families regarding child development, transitions, and referrals.
-
Foster open dialogue that respects cultural values, parenting styles, and family diversity.
6. Team Collaboration
-
Work collaboratively with co-teachers and support staff to create consistent and positive environments.
-
Share ideas and strategies to enhance classroom routines and curriculum.
-
Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and contribute to program planning.
-
Support colleagues during classroom transitions, events, or staffing shortages.
-
Model professionalism, respect, and reliability in all interactions.

Pay Range: $20.50 – $23.00 per hour (based on experience)

Plus: $6.00/hour ECE Wage Enhancement
