Supported Child Development Educator
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) is located on the unceded, occupied, ancestral

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House is looking for experienced, passionate, and values-based
Early Childhood Educator to join our 3-5 Group Daycare team located at 800 east Broadway.
MPNH is a member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC). ANHBC
Childcare Programs are inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia
Approach. We believe that children are capable individuals who observe the world around
them, gather information through natural play and rich interactions, and that children develop

creating inclusive early learning spaces and possess excellent and respectful guiding and caring
skills.
Required Experience:
Skills and Qualifications
• Valid BC Basic Early Childhood Education Certificate.
• Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
• Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in inclusive licensed childcare.
• Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach.
• Understanding and commitment to creating inclusive spaces.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as a part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina to keep up with energetic children (may require lifting).
• Solid knowledge and experience implementing safe and respectful strategies to support
children in co-regulating strong emotions.
• Creativity, critical thinking, flexibility and sense of humour.
• Non-violent Intervention training/ experience is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
About the Position
The Supported Child Development Educator works directly with children referred to Supported
Child Development as well as a part of the team of educators, attend meetings and liaise with
Supported Child Development and other service providers, and implement and follow guidance
provided by the supervisor and service providers (Speech and Language therapist, Occupational
therapist, Physiotherapist, Supported Child Development and Behavioural consultants and
other providers as needed). The position is subject to continuous funding from the BC Centre
for Ability
Salary & Benefits:
• Compensation: Band C2 $22 to $23.57 Based on experience level and qualifications.
• Benefits: This position received 6% on top of wage in lieu of vacation time. Paid sick
leave and exceptional professional development opportunities.
Additional Notes:
• Term position until August 2026.
• Full time -35 hours per week.
• Rotating shifts between 7:45am -5:30pm Monday to Friday.
• This position works in person at MPNH.
• This position works some evenings and weekends.
• This position is subject to funding from the BC Centre for Abilty.
