Private Infant & Toddler Educator (ECE/ITE) – West Vancouver
Additional Qualifications:
We are seeking an exceptional educator who is interested in building a stable, long-term relationship with our family and supporting our child’s development as they grow. This is an educational position as well as a caregiving role, and we are particularly interested in candidates with extensive professional experience and a strong academic background. The position is based in a private home in West Vancouver and requires reliable weekday commuting. Multilingual ability is highly valued. We particularly welcome candidates who speak Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese, and English. The ability to naturally incorporate multiple languages into the child’s daily routine through conversation, books, songs, play, and educational activities would be a significant asset.
Required Experience:
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in early childhood education, including substantial experience working with infants and toddlers under three years of age. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in supporting language, cognitive, social-emotional, fine and gross motor, and early independence development. Previous experience as an Infant/Toddler Educator, Lead Educator, Senior Educator, or Director is highly valued. Experience providing individualized one-on-one education is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide attentive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate one-on-one care and education for a 21-month-old child.
• Plan engaging daily activities that support language, cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and creative development.
• Encourage independence, curiosity, confidence, problem-solving, and age-appropriate life skills.
• Incorporate learning naturally through play, reading, music, art, sensory activities, outdoor exploration, and everyday routines.
• Support multilingual language development through conversation, books, songs, and play. Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, and English language abilities are highly valued.
• Observe the child’s interests, strengths, developmental progress, and individual learning style, and adapt activities accordingly.
• Establish consistent, positive routines and age-appropriate boundaries using a warm and respectful approach.
• Plan age-appropriate educational activities and outings that provide meaningful learning experiences.
• Communicate regularly with the parents regarding the child’s development, interests, progress, and daily activities.
• Work collaboratively with the family to provide a consistent and enriching environment that supports the child’s long-term development.
