Required Experience:

• Valid ECE licence in British Columbia
• Recognized Montessori training is mandatory
• Previous Montessori classroom experience is mandatory
• Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and practice
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a large group of children
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to create and implement engaging, enriching Montessori curriculum
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate professionally and warmly with parents and families
• Experience leading parent meetings or parent evenings is an asset
• Experience supporting children with diverse needs is an asset
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and demonstrate leadershi

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a Montessori classroom with confidence, professionalism, warmth and enthusiasm

• Plan, document and implement enriching, engaging and developmentally appropriate Montessori curriculum that reflects the Montessori philosophy and meets the individual needs and interests of the children

• Provide consistent Montessori lessons and experiences that encourage independence, concentration, curiosity, problem-solving and a love of learning

• Confidently lead large groups of children while maintaining a calm, respectful, organized and purposeful classroom environment

• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation, records and paperwork required by BC Ministry of Education and Child Care and Licensing authorities, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and within required timelines

• Ensure classroom practices consistently meet applicable licensing requirements, health and safety standards and program policies

• Observe and document children's development, interests and progress and use these observations to inform curriculum planning

• Maintain a beautifully prepared, clean, organized and inviting Montessori environment

• Build strong, respectful and professional relationships with parents and families

• Provide timely, thoughtful and professional parent communication regarding children's development, classroom experiences and individual needs

• Plan and participate in parent evenings, family events and other program activities

• Work collaboratively with the leadership team and teaching staff while demonstrating strong initiative and leadership

• Support and mentor other educators when appropriate and contribute to a positive, professional team culture

• Manage daily classroom routines, transitions, schedules and responsibilities efficiently

• Ensure all required health, safety, attendance and child-care documentation is completed a

Salary & Benefits:

Salary: $24–$29 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus applicable government-funded wage enhancement, an additional $6/hr

• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Lead Teacher role
• Have strong written and oral English communication skills
• Have experience leading large groups of children and managing a classroom independently
• Have strong organizational, documentation and parent communication skills
• Have musical experience and a working knowledge of music theory, as the successful candidate will be responsible for directing and leading a children's musical choir

French language skills are an asset.
