Only licensed Family Child Care or Registered Licensed Not Required Family Child Care Providers in Vancouver qualify for the subsidized workshop fee, they will receive an email (about every 3 months) with a Coupon Code to apply for the FCC fee.
We have no membership. Only Registered Licensed Not Required Family Child Care or Licensed Family Child Care Providers in Vancouver qualify for the FCC rate.
Registration is online only. Visit our website, choose the workshop(s) you would like to register for and click the Register button at the bottom right of the workshop page you are on. Payment can be made by credit card or your PayPal account.
Starting April 2020 all our workshops and courses are scheduled online. In-person classes are suspended due to physical distancing concerns.
Yes. You must register online and pay to reserve your spot.
We do not offer discounted fees.
Yes, if the interpreter is with you on the Zoom call and it is not disruptive to the class.
Our basic requirement is a Grade 8 or equivalent English level so that participants can interact with the facilitator and the class.
You will need to make all arrangements with your organization or agency to pay for any training fees if they are sponsoring you financially. By registering online both you and your agency agree to and accept all our workshop policies.
Please make your own childcare arrangements. Our interactive workshops require participation, sharing and discussion. Participants need to demonstrate that they are fully engaged in the entire workshop.
All our workshops are currently online only due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
If you are interested in having group training for your team online fill out the Customized Group Training Inquiry Form on our website and we will contact you as soon as possible.
You can also find this cancellation policy at the bottom of each workshop before registering:
- Requests for cancellations must be received at least 3 business days prior to the workshop date to get a refund, minus any Administration Fees.
- All refunds are subject to a $10 Administration Fee except for workshops or courses that are $100 or more, which have a $25 Administration Fee.
- No monies will be refunded or credits offered once the workshop starts, or if it’s missed
- Westcoast may cancel a workshop at any time. Registrants will be notified and receive a full refund.
You should be working toward your certificate to practice renewal throughout the year. To help you plan and track your training, EYPD have developed a free tool at https://earlyyearsbc.ca/.
Remember: 40 hours is the minimum number required to renew a professional ECE certificate to practice. Select topics you would like to expand on or that you're passionate about.

Yes. It is the participants’ responsibility to read the workshop/course description and objectives and make sure the training selected is suitable for their learning needs. Currently our workshops are online only due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
When you click the Register button you will see a message saying that registration is closed. Our online booking system reflects current availability for all training events - if an event says ‘registration is closed’, the workshop or course is full and there is no waitlist.
Yes. By email within a week of each workshop or course.
These are non-credit workshops and training and cannot be applied towards the completion of a certificate, diploma or degree.
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy states no monies will be refunded or credits offered once the workshop/course starts or if it’s missed and you will not receive a certificate. If you are late for the workshop you will not be accepted into the Zoom call and will be marked absent. There is no makeup class for any workshop/course.
No. As long as the Licensing Regulation remains the same these certificates will be valid.
Materials and resources for online workshops will be sent by email for you to explore, with the purpose of extending our learning and encouraging self-reflection. This will count towards your certificate as specified.
Yes, you are welcome to join our online workshops from anywhere in the world. However, be mindful that the information in our workshops is specific to the BC early years context and that your certificate will likely not be valid in your country.
Self reflection resources/materials will be emailed to participants to explore and read, as instructed by the facilitator. This counts for additional hour (as specified) of independent learning on your certificate.
The workshop will take place via Zoom. A link will be sent to your email address the day before the workshop. Please just click the link ten minutes before the workshop starts to join. You do not need to download Zoom to attend but access is quicker when you are logged in. You can download Zoom for free at zoom.us/signup.
Sessions are never recorded. If you are absent or late, you will not get a certificate and there is no refund or credit transfer. There is no make up class for the missed session. You will need to pay the full fee and attend the workshop again in order to get a certificate.
We strongly recommend you to join from a computer with a camera and a microphone system enabled, rather than a smartphone. You will have a better learning experience if you join from a computer.
