Assistant Senior Supervisor - Out of School Care

Required Experience:

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate, responsible adult and/or equivalent education and experience
  • Class 4 Drivers Licence or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment - negotiable
  • Current First Aid Certification
  • Written verification of physical and mental good health as stated by a qualified physician
  • Clear criminal record check will be completed
  • A competent working knowledge of school aged development and its practical application
  • Two (2) years recent related leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Competence in communication, financial management and human resources management
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation and philosophy of pedagogical inquiry and the Early Learning Framework

Key Responsibilities:

This position has oversight of 6 staff and 74 OSC spaces in two locations. The purpose of this position is to provide a high level of leadership and oversight of staff, volunteers and students; it provides planning and implementation of pedagogical inquiries and activities for all children and it supports the administrative functions to operate the centre. This position reports to the Program Coordinator.

  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator; plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the work of staff, volunteers and students
  • Administrative - plans and conducts staff meetings, reviews timesheets, ensures child records are maintained, menu planning and food ordering, staff scheduling, fieldtrip and activities calendar planning
  • Financial - Assists the Program Coordinator to maintain financial records keeping and accounting
  • Enrolls and orientates families to the program, meets with families when needed, communicates regularly with families  
  • Participates in short and long term planning and evaluation of program
  • Plans, carries out and evaluates pedagogical inquires and activities for children 
  • Ensures a healthy and safe environment for all children and staff and is familiar with current licensing regulations, policies, and is responsible to implement them as directed
  • Work as a front line child care worker


Salary & Benefits:

HOURS OF WORK - 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday (10:30 to 5:30) 

Salary - $23.74 per hour + $2.00 Wage Enhancement for ECE qualifications (increasing to $4.00/hour in Sept)

Vacation entitlement – 4% of earnings first year, increasing to 3 weeks after first year

We are a successful not-for-profit provider located in Woodland Drive, Vancouver, and have been serving the Grandview-Woodland community since 1973. Our child care facility consists of one 3-5 program and two school age programs, soon to be three! Our dedicated out of school care space provides care for children ages 5 to 12 for before and after school, professional development days and during the Winter, Spring and Summer breaks.
