Child Care Coordinator

Qualifications: Basic ECE

Required Experience:

Qualifications:

  • A valid ECE or ECEA Certificate
  • 2 years of ECE work experience is preferred
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to parents and professionals
  • Demonstrated cultural competency within a highly diverse, mixed-income community
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of Educational activities, Arts (i.e. drama, art, voice etc.) and physical activities (i.e. games, dance, gross motor etc.)
  • Demonstrated strong skills in conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Special needs certificate is an asset
  • Food Safe Certificate is an asset
  • Second language is an asset
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Must be at least 19 years old  as per Child Care Licensing Regulations
  • Current first aid and CPR certificate as per Child Care Licensing Regulations
  • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Secure and maintain VCH Licensing
  • Ensure Licensing requirements are fully met
  • Recruit and provide training, guidance and support to staff
  • Coordinate with West End Child Care Coordinator and West End Community Centre Association
  • Effective communication with child care staff, parents and Parks Board staff
  • Prepare annual operating budget
  • Educating parents/care-givers on proper procedures, policies  and protocol
  • Obtaining monthly supplies, year-end supplies and equipment through the WECCA Business Office
  • Managing the waitlist, waitlist applications and contacting new families
  • Organization of children’s files and other record keeping
  • Beginning of the year organization and prep
  • Organization and preparation of activities and other related duties (program planning and implementation)
  • Organization of Pro-D day activities; winter, spring and summer camps for up to 30 children including hiring staff, ordering supplies and supervising
  • Other duties that may from time to time be assigned
