Education & Experience:
•Completion of Early Childhood Education Certification and Special Needs Certifications is required.
• Related training in the area of children with special needs and/or Under 3 Training, as required by licensing.
• Minimum 1 year with integrated groups of pre-school aged children.
• Experience with special needs functional assessment, individual and group program design and evaluation.
• Experience in the area of Behavior Management.
Standard requirements of the Early Childhood Educator include:
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance
• Valid First Aid/CPR
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Basic computer literacy
• Eligible to work in Canada
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, delivers and evaluates developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children using modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing techniques. Develops daily program schedules that include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual and group activities
- Liaises with other professionals and consultants involved with each child and family to ensure consistency of care.
- As a member of the teaching team, provides supervision and direction to groups of children in the centre.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of policies and procedures of DDA, CCFLB and MCFD
- Participates in in-service training at the request of the Program Manager
- Maintains equipment in good working order; develops and/or adapts toys/equipment to meet individual child’s needs.
- Organizes and maintains classrooms, staff room, kitchen, washrooms, laundry room and storage areas to effectively support program aims.
- Attends to the children’s physical needs that may include diapering, toileting, eating, sleeping, lifting and transferring.
- Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy
- Participates in planning and evaluation of programs offered by the organization. Provides recommendations for change to the Program Manager.
- Maintains current knowledge within the field.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Wage: $25.91 + 10.6% in lieu of benefits (with ECE Assistant)
$27.29 + 10.6% in lieu of benefits (with valid BC ECE certificate)
