Educators are part of children’s support system. To fully support the children we care for, we need to be able to nourish our own resilience and growth from within. During this training educators will explore basic tools to empower themselves and the children they work with, to include:

  • Benefits of yoga for children - physically, intellectually and socio-emotionally.

  • Basic Yoga philosophy and self care for educators and parents.

  • Understanding the nervous system and emotional responses.

  • Child development and uniqueness from utero to 8 years of age.

  • Tools and age appropriate life skills to support children on, and off the mat.

  • The basics of trauma and how to create a safe space for young children.

  • We will also enjoy a class together for children 3-5 years.

Note: Have a water bottle, a yoga mat or cushion nearby, and wear comfortable clothes to move.

Living Inquiries:

  • Well-being and belonging.

Pathways:

  • Joy in relationships with people, place, materials and ideas.

  • Safety and respect.

  • Nourishment, sleep, and physical activity.

  • Emotions, thoughts, and views.

  • Every child is a gift.

Suitable for students and novice, intermediate and experienced early care and learning professionals working with children of all ages, from infants/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.
