ECE Preschool Teacher (Part-time, Mornings)

Current ECE license, Criminal Record Check, valid First Aid and CPR certificate, and character references from past employers and/or teachers.

Required Experience:

Previous employment experience in a preschool setting is an asset, but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Part of a team lead by an experienced Head Teacher, the Preschool Teacher will be an integral part of the school’s program planning and implementation. Working within a play-based curriculum, the Preschool Teacher’s job duties will include: leading circle times, engaging with the children as a play partner and role model, and providing input into the creation of developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children. 

The ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a team of teachers is essential.

Little People’s Community Preschool is a play-based preschool that has been serving the neighbourhood of Kerrisdale/Dunbar for over 45 years.  Ideally located next to Kerrisdale Elementary School and close to Kerrisdale Annex, Little People’s prides itself on being part of the foundation of the local community.  Its open-door policy welcomes parents to be involved in their children’s early education and it strives to foster community among its families through such events as educational evenings and social gatherings.

Little People’s Community Preschool enjoys a very large, bright and well-equipped classroom, as well as a private playground and access to a gymnasium.  A school manager and supportive Board of Directors oversee the adminstrative work, leaving the teachers free to concentrate on program planning and teaching.

Teaching duties will begin in September 2020, with the possibility of some paid work to occur before September. Potential exists for the position to become full-time (40 hours/week) after one year.
