The Child Care Hub Coordinator will provide leadership for our 2 large child care sites (Selkirk, Secord) to explore the development of a Child Care Hub that fosters collaboration and coordination between the child care program, school, community (children, families, community partners) and other services.  This project builds on policy work that has been taking place about schools as community hubs.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a college or university program in social work, child and youth care, education, counseling or other social science or health-related discipline is preferred.
  • Min 2 years working in Social Work, Community Development and Child Care
  • Experience in facilitating workshops, leading staff and implementing policies
  • Experience in planning, project management and community development
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication
  • Min 1 year experience working in multicultural setting with children and families
  • A strong belief in social justice, poverty reduction and inclusion
  • First Aid Certificate or willing to acquire
  • Valid Criminal Record Search
     

 

Key Responsibilities:

Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is looking for an individual to be on our team to build strong community places for children, families and neighbours to connect, belong and thrive.

 

The Child Care Hub Coordinator will provide leadership for our 2 large child care sites (Selkirk, Secord) to explore the development of a Child Care Hub that fosters collaboration and coordination between the child care program, school, community (children, families, community partners) and other services.  This project builds on policy work that has been taking place about schools as community hubs.

 

Specific areas of responsibilities include: 

  1. Working with parents, community partners, staff and children to develop a plan and vision for a child care hub that is grounded in the engagement of the school community.
  2. Providing leadership to work with staff and volunteers to develop activities to foster the hub vision.
  3. Developing training and presentations for staff, volunteers, partners and parents to further the understanding of hub goals
  4. Supporting the child care staff to be part of the project activities
  5. Supporting child care operations as required.

 

This schedule requires occasional evening and weekend work.

 

Salary & Benefits:

$25.31 with company pension after 1 year and shared benefit plan after 3 months
