ECE/ECEA - French Immersion

Pomme d’Api is a play-based preschool in East Vancouver committed to offering students a quality early childhood educational experience where French is an integral part of the program.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, passionate, caring, and patient Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant to take on a full-time teaching role at our friendly and positive preschool. Pomme d’Api runs three classes, with up to 20 students (ages 2.5-5 years old) per class.

Required Experience:

• Have a strong understanding of child development and behaviour
• Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask
• Demonstrate appropriate child guidance techniques that are respectful to the child and help to develop their trust, self esteem, independence, and decision-making skills
• Engage children by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
• Provide opportunities to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
• Have knowledge of licensing regulations and their implementation
• Be creative in order to co-manage social media accounts and plan special events, such as field trips

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent supervision and interaction for children
• Participate in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs and activities
• Establish and maintain warm and supportive professional relationships with families
• Maintain a clean, healthy, safe, organized, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children
• Attend professional development workshops
• Maintain collaborative relationships with staff and community service providers working with children

Salary & Benefits:

Salary equivalent to $17-22/hour commensurate with experience

*Candidates may receive an additional $6/hour as per MCFD’s ECE Wage Enhancement Program if they meet the program eligibility criteria.*

The employee will be offered extended health benefits through ECEBC Group Benefits program.

For ECE or ECEA: Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
