Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House is looking for experienced, passionate, and values-based Early Childhood Educator Assitant to join our 3-5 Group Daycare team located at 800 east Broadway.

MPNH is a member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC). ANHBC Childcare Programs are inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach. Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Basic Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in licensed childcare.
  • Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach.
  • Understanding and commitment to creating inclusive spaces.
  • Excellent and proficient oral and written communication.
  • Passion and commitment for ongoing professional development and growth
  • Creativity, critical thinking, flexibility and sense of humour.

You are passionate, creative and have an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative, supportive and dynamic team in a non-profit and volunteer-based organization. You are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the BC Early Learning Framework. You are knowledgeable of evolving philosophies and pedagogies in early childhood care and education, including risky play, decolonizing early childhood spaces and are up to date with current trends, policy and changing perspectives on work with young children.

You are passionate about creating inclusive early learning spaces, believe children learn best through play and enjoy being outside with children in all weather.

About the position:

Under the general guidance of the supervisor, the Early Childhood Educator Assistant will provide responsive, caring and high quality programming inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework. Educators nurture strong relationships with the children, families and colleagues, and implement high standards of care and supervision that promote the wellbeing of all children. The Early Childhood Educator Assistant will support the educators during the first hours of the day.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Part-time 12-month Term position -20 hours per week.
  • Morning shift from 8am to 12pm Monday to Friday.
  • Compensation: Band C1 $21.74 to $22.50 for ECEA Certificate. Based on experience level and qualifications.
  • Benefits: This position received 6% on top of wage in lieu of vacation time. Paid sick leave and exceptional professional development opportunities.

Additional Notes:

  • This position works in person at MPNH.
  • This position works some evenings and weekends.
  • Start date: as soon as possible.
