ECE Teacher for Christian Child Care Centre

Additional Qualifications:

We are seeking ECE teachers who are dedicated, enthusiastic, passionate, effective and organized working in our Christian-based daycare for children aged 3-5 years old.  The successful candidate(s) will have excellent skills engaging and working with children and relating well with co-workers and families.  The positions are initially temporary, but can become permanent.

Qualifications:

  • Current ECE License (not ECEA) to practice in BC
  • ECE trained in BC with experience in BC
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Good organizational skills to manage classroom activities effectively
  • Ability to plan and carry out age appropriate activities and programs
  • Fluent English   (Chinese is also an asset)
  • Knowledge of Child Care Licensing Regulation is an asset
  • Current Childcare CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Up-to-date immunization record

  • Especially for permanent positions, a definite asset is to be a practicing Christian, interested in and committed to the long-term ministry and vision we have for the future of TLCC.
  • Have a heart and passion to work for the well-being of young children and their families
  • Ability to be a supportive team-player collaborating with creative ideas to engage and teach children in the classroom and in the playground
  • Demonstrate open-mindedness, initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm to work independently and with others
  • Good communication skills to engage positively with children, parents, co-workers, and church staff
  • Maintain a positive and supportive relationship with parents and families
  • Comply with all licensing requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide appropriate early childhood education experiences for children in art, music, movement and literature
  • Collaboratively develop and implement activities in keeping with the day-to-day themes established by the Manager and Staff Meetings
  • Promote and supervise the healthy, emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and coworkers to build trust and strong relationships with our daycare and church communities
  • Provide feedback to parents regarding their child’s development
  • Assist in the arrangement and upkeep of classroom and all classroom equipment and materials.
  • Assist children in establishing good habits of toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Use positive methods of discipline and guidance that are child-centered and respectful
  • Perform various chores (opening, closing, “housekeeping”) as assigned
  • Attend staff meetings and monthly planning sessions
  • Ability to keep accurate records (eg logs)
  • Work with all staff members in a professional manner
  • Maintain prompt hours as scheduled

Salary & Benefits:

  • $22.15 to $24 per hour plus $6/hour ECE Wage Enhancement

Trinity’s Little Children Centre (TLCC) is a group daycare centre for 3-5 year olds and is part of Trinity Lutheran Church’s children ministry.  Our goal is to share the love of Jesus with children and their families, regardless of their background, offering them a quality Christian child-care program, complete with tender-loving care. We believe that children learn best in an environment surrounded by Christ’s love and teachings. Therefore, our staff is committed to providing a loving, nurturing environment in which children will develop self-esteem and individuality. TLCC has been providing full-day child-care to families in Richmond since 2015.
