About the Position

Rainforest Learning Centre Inc. is looking for reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic on-call substitute educators to support our three locations in North Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Langley.

Our substitute team plays an important role in helping maintain consistency and quality of care when educators are away. Substitutes may be called upon to provide coverage for vacation days, sick days, professional development, appointments, and other staffing needs.

This is an on-call, as-needed position. Candidates are encouraged to indicate their preferred location or locations when applying.

Additional Qualifications:

Depending on the position, candidates must have:

  • Valid ECE or ECEA certification/licensing, where applicable
  • Responsible Adult (RA) qualification, where applicable
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • IT and/or Special Needs certification is considered an asset
  • Experience working with children is required; experience with children ages 3–5 is an asset
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements and regulations
  • A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development

Required Experience:

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment
  • Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Follow the centre's established policies, procedures, and programming practices
  • Be familiar with emergent curriculum and theme-based programming
  • Facilitate or assist with circle/group times
  • Participate in engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
  • Participate in daily program activities, including outdoor play, walks, and field trips
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
  • Follow all applicable licensing requirements and health and safety regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, and team members
  • Work collaboratively with educators and centre management
  • Be flexible and adaptable when working in different classrooms and locations
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn
  • Commit to ongoing professional development

Salary & Benefits:

Wage will be based on qualifications, certification, and applicable experience.

$18.25 - 22.00 

Additional Notes:

We are looking for individuals who have flexibility in their schedules and are available to accept shifts on an as-needed basis. While advance notice may be provided whenever possible, some shifts may arise with limited notice.
