ECE Teacher- Supervisor
We’re Sexsmith Preschool, a board of parent volunteers and a staff of two teachers, who have dedicated themselves to serving our community and fostering our children’s growth in a positive environment.
At this time we are actively searching for ECE Teacher- Supervisor. We say goodbye to our current Supervisor, after over 20 years of service. It will be a challenge to fill her shoes but we are optimistic in finding an individual who can smile in the face of adversity and has a passion to encourage children to become life-long learners. What you will be doing:
Work with children and families in a play-based program that places priority in the well-being and development of each child in a group setting specifically designed to prepare her/him for kindergarten.
As the Supervisor you are the driving catalyst that forges strong relationships with parents, board members, school faculty and the VSB. Family lives change and we need to be connected to community resources at all times.
Work with the current board to ensure that the preschool is operating under the regulations and guidelines specifically set out by the Provincial Government and Vancouver Childcare Licensing Board.
Maintain an open and collaborative relationship with board members while working towards enriching the program.
Act in an advisory capacity to Board Members in the hiring process of new staff members.
Maintain records of initial intake registration requests and setup parent observation appointments
Collect all file documentation required by law for each staff member, substitute and volunteer. Post documentation required by law in a clearly visible spot for licensing inspectors and other concerned parties to easily view.
Work in a collaborative partnership with an Educator in the day to day planning/creation and execution of an excellent program.
Develop and implement child‐care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, play, music and physical activity to support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.

An individual with a strong passion to foster a safe and nurturing environment for children, by creating stimulating activities that will enable them to learn through play in a positive manner.
Children need consistency between parents and teachers, therefore the right individual will be eager to take-on this level of autonomy and treat it as their own operation for the long-term.
The following certifications are required for this role; Early Childhood Education Certificate, Special Education Certificate, Administration Certificate, Food Safety Certificate and a valid First Aid Certificate. (Also must pass a criminal record check and have three letters of reference.)
A driven individual who is eager to take on-going courses and knowledge share relevant and emerging information to design programs that enrich all parties/community.
Being able to adapt with compassion, humor and ability to ask for help when needed are definitely assets that will prove invaluable.
