Educator for Extra Support Childcare
Acting as a bridge between Canada and Japan on an international level, as well as between local Japanese Canadian and multicultural communities, we operate to provide Japanese language and cultural education, through our innovative and unique programming. Our early childhood education program, Kodomo no Kuni exposes pre-schoolers to a second language at the earliest possible age and provides a Japanese language/culture-enriched day-school program.
We are looking to add to our dedicated team of educators. Reporting to the Children’s World Manager, the incumbent works with the child-care staff to provide safe, quality and inclusive child-care programming for children in a group setting.
Additional Qualifications:
Requires valid ECE, ECEA, or Responsible Adult certificate
Valid Infant & Toddler and/or Special Needs certificates would be considered an asset.

Required Experience:
- Some experience working in a licensed childcare;
- Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and BC Childcare Licensing Regulations;
- Ability to provide reflective and emergent curriculum;
- Strong communication and team-building skills;
- Enjoys working in an inclusive and diverse community;
- Second language an asset;
- Passion for professional development and growth;
- Passionate, creative, intentional & reflective in their work with children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide opportunities for child directed play experiences;
- Attend to children’s physical needs for eating, toileting and sleeping;
- Use observations to expand play and plan activities that recognize individual needs;
- Work cooperatively with the centre Manager and staff team to support inclusive practice and address the needs of individual children;
- In collaboration with the centre Manager and senior staff, ensure individual plans are regularly reviewed and revised as needed;
- Ensure child-care environment is healthy and safe;
- Follow the licensing requirements and the centre’s procedures;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all information related to the children, families, and staff and fulfill obligations to respect protection of privacy;
- Participate in short- and long-term planning, evaluation and the annual program review.
Salary & Benefits:
$20.00 to $25.00 per hour based $10aDay wage grid

Additional Notes:
This position is for 12 hours per week; shifts are between 3:00pm and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
