Childcare Worker (ECEA or ECE)
Additional Qualifications:
Education resources are available to help support ECE studies for anyone who is already an ECEA , or anyone who is training to achieve their ECEA certification.
An employee who meets the qualifications of a Childcare Worker II position with an active ECE certificate is eligible for the Early Childhood Educator – Wage Enhancement program through the District of Tofino’s participation in the Child Care Operating Funding program offered by the Province of British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities:
The District of Tofino is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the part-time position of Childcare Worker.
Reporting to the Daycare Supervisor, the Child Care Worker assists in the day-to-day operation of the Community Children’s Centre (the Centre). The wage schedule for this position is dependent on the certification level of applicant. Childcare Worker I possesses an Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) certificate. Childcare Worker II possesses an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certificate.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a permanent, part-time position based on 40 hours per week, located within the District of Tofino. Regular workday hours are between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Schedules will be discussed and confirmed in advance. The regular hourly wage is $27.57 (ECEA) - $29.10 (ECE).
This position is subject to a probationary period during which time the wage will be $24.81 (ECEA) - 26.19 (ECE). The position offers a full range of benefits and is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 118 and the District of Tofino.
